Elcometer U.K. 122 Testex Tapes provides a quick, easy to use low cost method of measuring rough surface profiles after shot or grit blasting. Used in conjunction with the tape gives peak to valley height. This method enables a replica of the anchor pattern profile to be produced, which can then be attached to a report, to provide a permanent record for future reference

Use it By placing the tape on the surface and rubbing over it, the Rt (total roughness) or peak-to-valley height of the profile can be taken and then measured with a film thickness meter.

1. Tape consists of a layer of compressible foam affixed to an incompressible polyester substrate.

2. When pressed against a roughened/grit blasted (steel) surface, the foam collapses acquiring an impression of the surface.

3. Placing the compressed tape between the anvils of the micro metric thickness gauge, and subtracting the contribution of the incompressible substrate (50 micrometers or 0.002 inches), gives a measure of the surface profile
